HTC Under Armour Packaging

HTC collaborated with Under Armour on a collection of health and wellness products. During this project I worked on the design of packaging for the Healthbox — an all-in-one packaging solution including a scale, heart rate monitor and a wearable wristband. We also designed individual packaging solutions to sell the products separately.

Process

Unveiling the products in the Healthbox in a strategic order was one of our primary concerns when designing the layout of the packaging. We positioned the products in a left-to-right order so that it coincided with the UI/UX set-up experience on the Under Armour Record™ app. The customer starts by opening the Quick Start Guide envelope in the top left corner, being asked to install the set-up wizard on their phone which then guides the user through the set-up process — pairing the devices one-by-one so they all work seamlessly together.

Scale Packaging

In addition to the Healthbox, we also designed individual boxes to sell the products separately, including the Under Armour Scale packaging. This structure borrowed parts taken from the Healthbox. We eliminated the side doors and modified the dimensions of the base and internal tray. We intentionally designed the Scale package to use the same functional molded polystyrene tray to securely hold the scale in place. The design of three recesses were molded into the bottom of the tray so we could discretely organize and display the Quick Start Guide and manuals under the scale.

Wearable Wristband Packaging

One packaging solution was designed to be used for the Wearable Wristband and Heart Rate Monitor. Both products shared the same front window made from polycarbonate plastic as well as the same case-wrapped fiberboard construction for the back of the packaging. The internal paper tray served as a convenient solution for displaying the products and logos. The tray design also had a minimal appearance and provided a cohesive look for both products.
